All about natural stone

A natural stone for interior decoration of walls should be selected carefully. The construction market presents a huge range of natural resources of various forms and a wide range of colors. The most popular materials used for interior cladding of walls are: marble, granite, travertine, dolomite, slate, onyx.

⋅ The stone is durable. Due to the high hardness and low compression strain, the stone is resistant to scratches, cracks and other damages. Qualitatively executed and adequately protected decorative elements from this material are practically not destroyed. In addition, the natural stone is beautifully aging.

⋅ The stone does not burn and is resistant to temperature changes. Under the influence of high temperature, the stone does not change its appearance and properties. This allows it to be used in places exposed to fire: for finishing fireplaces, covering kitchen countertops and walls.

⋅ Aesthetic advantages. The richness of shades and textures of various types of stone contradicts the established idea of it as a cold, ascetic and «dull» material. The veins on its surface have a unique natural pattern.

⋅ Eco-friendly and natural. The stone does not cause allergies, does not release toxic substances, does not create harmful radiation, does not pollute the environment; It is one of the few decorative materials that can be repeatedly processed and used, changing their appearance and purpose.

⋅ Elements of different sizes and weights. An important advantage of the stone is the possibility of obtaining from it elements of large dimensions — both bulk blocks and large slabs. Modern technology of stone processing allows you to make very thin tiles (less than 6 mm).

⋅ Material is not just for the rich. If we are talking about the use of a stone in the interior, then this does not necessarily have to be an expensive marble flooring or wall covering. Increasingly, it is dosed, for example, to introduce an element that contrasts with another material, or to give nobility to others that look more ordinary,

Granite is considered to be the most durable, waterproof, frost-resistant stone, therefore it is very popular in interiors and especially in exteriors. High-strength, fine-, medium- and coarse-grained, is subjected to heat treatment before use. Colors to choose from: gray, pink-red, sugar white, yellow, green and black.
It is distinguished by high polishability. When the stone is heavily impacted (for example, granite on the countertop), the polishing becomes dull, but it can be restored by grinding.

Granite in the interior is used in the decoration of the floor, in the shower, bathrooms, for the equipment of worktops.

There is an opinion that granite has a high radioactive background,
But for construction and interior use, as a rule, granite class 1, where the background does not exceed the permissible.

It has a similar granite structure, a black rock with a greenish tint. More often than not, when searching for «black granite» you are dealing specifically with gabbro. The polished surface acquires an effective depth.

Suitable for facing walls, but when laying the floor quickly wears off.

Does not absorb moisture and dirt,
When decorating walls, care for gabbro is very simple — just wipe it with a soft rag from dust. Gabbro is characterized by high strength characteristics and a low price compared to other breeds.

There is gray and black labradorite. Labradorite can be seen in the decoration of churches, the decor of metro stations and facades. The rock may contain additional pigmentation in the form of spots — blue-green, cornflower, golden yellow and red hue.

High-strength rock with good polishability. Suitable for finishing the floor, walls, as well as for sculpture,
Countertops and window-sills.

Most often used for decorating fireplaces.

With different techniques of grinding and polishing, labradorite can become brighter or tarnished, so it looks original.

One of the most beautiful and expensive breeds. The stone is white and gray, and also colored. Medium and fine-grained white marble turns yellow, with time, spots appear on the surface.

Gray marble is heterogeneous and has a layered structure. Polishing underlines the pattern and color of the stone.
Faster than other stones heats up and gives off heat — a good solution for a warm floor. Untreated marbles are capable of leaving traces of spilled coffee, tea and wine forever.

Marble, depending on its processing, will be appropriate in any place of the interior.

Untreated marble can change color and texture, for example,
Unpolished marble on the floor after a while gets a beautiful effect of antiquity, which will look expensive and exquisite. Matte marble on the wall in the bathroom finish can change the pattern under the influence of moisture.

When installing tiles, we adhere to the necessary technology to ensure quality and durability. The cement mortar is kneaded and applied to the prepared surface, and then the tiles are laid. Next, you need time and a certain temperature, so that the tile is firmly entangled with the solution.
Caution! Surface operation before the required time can lead to a curvature of the surface and creates a vulnerability of the tile to chips and cracks. We ask you to be patient so that this item is not violated
Caution! In the event of violation of this rule, the installer «Maxtile» disclaims its obligations under the warranty for the installed tile.
